Richard Harrison new chairman steering committee Wageningen Data Competence Center
Tuesday afternoon, March 21, was marked by a strategy meeting on strengthening our data competencies in a broad sense as part of the WUR strategy around digitisation. During this meeting, Ron Mazier, who was ad interim chairman of the WDCC Steering Committee, handed over the baton to Richard Harrison, who is the new chairman and first contact person for the digitisation strategy within the WUR Executive Board.
Richard is succeeding Jack van der Vorst, who helped shape the WDCC into its current form from its inception in 2017. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for his hard work and stimulating contributions during the first years of the WDCC, and intend to stay in touch for its continuation. We also thank Ron for his efforts ad interim. He will remain a member of the WDCC steering committee.
Representatives from science groups and technical departments exchanged views on common challenges and opportunities with the WDCC team.
The focus this afternoon was on gathering practical needs for research, education and value creation. In addition, the focus was on the continuity and level of support that goes with the ambitions of WUR's digitisation strategy.
