The effect of obesity on vitamin status

Dietary requirements may increase in overweight or obese populations for several reasons, including volumetric dilution, changes in body tissue composition altering requirements, vitamin sequestration and others related to individual vitamins. If dietary requirements are different in overweight and obese populations, current dietary recommendations and estimates of population nutrient adequacy may not be accurate. The aim of this PhD project is to investigate the relationship between obesity and vitamin requirements.
