Water efficiency is set to become more pressing issue in the future : Recovery of transpired water gaining ground

Samenvatting

Efficient use of water is becoming increasingly important. Water use efficiency (WUE) can be improved by limiting transpiration, recirculating water and reusing condensed water vapour. There are sometimes misconceptions surrounding transpiration. A crop almost always transpires, even at a very high RH. In addition, there is no direct link between transpiration and production. In semi-closed growing systems, one kilogram of tomatoes can be produced with about four litres of water.
