New members of the Supervisory Board of Wageningen UR

On 2 November, State Secretary for Economic Affairs, Agriculture & Innovation Henk Bleker appointed five new members to the Supervisory Board of Wageningen UR (Wageningen University & DLO Foundation), with effect from 1 January. The new members have been appointed for a period of four years.

They are:

  • L.C. (Bert) Bruggeman (1950), former chair of the Board of Directors of the University Medical Center Groningen
  • Dr M.J. (Job) Cohen (1947), former mayor of Amsterdam
  • R.P. (Robert) Smith (1960), CEO Cosun
  • Prof. S. (Siem) Korver (1953), director Public Affairs of VION Food Group and professor by special appointment at Tilburg University
  • H.E. (Harm Evert) Waalkens (1948), former MP for the PvdA and ecological cattle breeder (nominated by the participational councils)

They will replace the following members, who are stepping down: Ms J.R.H. (Hanja) Maij-Weggen, Dr L.B.A.M.G. (Laurent) van Depoele and Dr J.J. (Jaap) van Duijn, whose terms of office were extended from 1 September 2012 to 1 January 2013.

In addition to the five new members, Ms M. (Margreeth) de Boer (chair) and Berry Marttin will stay on as members of the Supervisory Board of Wageningen UR.

The intention is that Mr Cohen will take over from the current chair, Margreeth de Boer, when she steps down on 1 September 2013. Berry Marttin’s term of office runs until 2015.
