The Evolution of SRI as a Socio-Technical Phenomenon

This page presents a number of resources arising from a project entitled The Evolution of the System of Rice Intensification as a Socio-technical Phenomenon, which was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (2009-2011) and carried out by KTI Group researchers Harro Maat and Dominic Glover together with colleagues from the Development Economics chair group and Plant Research International, a research unit of Wageningen University and Research Centre.

Project report

The final report of this project is available to download from the Social Science Research Network website.

Timelines of SRI

As a way of visualising the emergence and international spread of SRI, we are working on some interactive timelines using the online tool TimeGlider. Please note that these timelines are incomplete and we plan to continue refining and expanding them as our work continues. We would welcome your feedback to help us in this task; please use the link in the left-hand panel to contact us.

Database of documents and materials on SRI

As part of this project, we compiled a database of more than 250 documents on SRI, including peer-reviewed journal articles, other academic papers, reports and other materials. You can download a copy of the database, in the form of an Excel spreadsheet, by clicking here.

Workshop

A workshop was held in Wageningen on 25 May 2011 to present the report and discuss the findings of the project. The videos below provide a record of the proceedings.
