During bird counts from a ship of fellow research institute NIOZ, IMARES researcher Leopold Mardik could follow the swimming movements and the behavior of the humpback, that he describes as "relaxed, gushing fountains and eating". The animal, which is at least 50 feet long, swims along the ship and looks "healthy," according to the researchers.
The frequency is also special. It is unique that in a week time 2 humpbacks, 1 sperm whale and 2 ocean sunfishes have been spotted.
