Banks and companies are increasingly showing their interest in financing green or development projects. To tap into this new source of investment, the newly launched Green Finance Academy trains project managers to design their green project based on business model thinking.

The Green Finance Academy is an initiative of Alterra Wageningen UR, IUCN NL and Nyenrode Business University. Annemarie Groot, Strategic Programme Green Climate Solutions: ”Alterra is looking for new financial sources to finance projects that contribute to create resilient and climate-proof regions and companies,  especially since public funds are dwindling. To successfully access private sector finance, it is essential that we learn how to design bankable projects”.

The five day masterclass offered by the Academy consists of interactive sessions with experts in business development, marketing and private sector finance. Participants are challenged to transform current or new projects into bankable projects that generate financial returns for investors. The most promising bankable projects will qualify for consideration for funding by IUCN NL’s start-up fund for climate adaptation projects.

The masterclass is held from November 23-27. The venue of the masterclass will be Nyenrode Business Universiteit and Alterra. The tuition fee is € 3.995,- per person (excl. VAT). This includes course fees, firelight sessions, accommodation, catering, and a cultural event. Space is limited to 25 participants, so register soon. More information: nyenrode.nl/gfa.
