The COP 27 UN Climate Change Conference is taking place between 7-18 November 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

The focus of the conference will be on making concrete plans to reach previously agreed-upon targets. Heat waves, drought and flooding in different parts of the world underscore the need for translating the pledges of past summits—the Paris Agreement and Glasgow Climate Pact—into a comprehensive and collective implementation plan amid global uncertainty.

The Rapid Reaction Seminar will feature three prominent experts:

Anthony Patt, Professor of Climate Policy, ETH Zürich
Max van Deursen, PhD candidate of the ENP group, WUR
Josephine van Zeben, Chair of the LAW group, WUR

This seminar, taking place a week after COP27, will critically reflect on its significance, contents and outcomes, touching upon themes such as loss and damage, adaptation finance, the European Green Deal and transparency arrangements.

This Rapid Reaction Seminar is a collaboration between the LAW Group (WUR), the Student Sustainability Commission at ETH Zurich and the Wageningen Center for Sustainability Governance.
