As many of you may have read on the news, Eastern Türkiye and parts of Syria have been hit by a series of devastating earthquakes with currently more than 11 thousand confirmed dead and still many more waiting to be rescued under the collapsed buildings. The magnitude of the tragedy is exacerbated by unfavorable weather conditions (reaching -5 Celsius) and insufficient resources for rescue efforts. It is perhaps important to note that the area of the earthquake is a region of origin for many families with Turkish background in the Netherlands, and we quite likely have affected students in our programs as well.

On the bright side, there is a lot of support coming from all over Turkey and Europe. If you would also like to make a contribution to these efforts, you can choose to donate to one of the well-established international organizations, such as Red Cross and Save the Children.

You can also choose to donate to ‘AHBAP’, which has been established as a trustworthy and transparent non-profit organization. With 200 philanthropists and 30,000 volunteers on board, AHBAP is a local voluntary network that is currently active in the affected regions
