Dr. Lysanne Snijders, a researcher at our chairgroup, has received a Dobberke Grant to expand her raven study. With this funding, she plans to purchase five additional transmittors, which will increase the dataset on the behaviour of ravens in the Netherlands. Her research focuses on the food strategies of ravens on the Veluwe, revealing their surprising reliance on human food sources despite abundant natural food. By tagging ravens with GPS transmitters, she aims to understand the factors influencing their foraging behaviour, such as social learning and individual preferences. The study's findings have implications for wildlife management by learning how to adapt our human-dominated living environment to better suit the needs of these and other animals.
