Unravelling Origin of Chirality in Click-Chemistry Polymers at Single-Chains Level

My project aims to elucidate the complex mechanisms underlying the emergence of chirality in polymers from macroscopic to sub-molecular scales. Utilizing SuFEx click chemistry, we synthesized chiral polymers with >99% enantioselectivity and molecular weights around 200 kDa. A multiscale analytical framework combining bulk Circular Dichroism and Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy with advanced Atomic Force Microscopy-Infrared Spectroscopy was developed. This novel approach overcomes previous limitations, offering unprecedented sensitivity down to 200 kDa on non-metallic surfaces. The research not only provides deep insights into the origins and scales of chirality but also paves the way for the rational design of advanced chiral materials and therapeutics.
