dr. Susan Vermeer is Assistant Professor within the Strategic Communication group at Wageningen University & Research. In 2021, she defended her dissertation at the University of Amsterdam (ASCoR), in which she investigated news consumption in the digital society. Her research centers around the impact of the digital media environment on news use, political behaviour, and political attitudes. She focuses on adolescents. She combines traditional research methods with computational methods to study such processes. Her research articles have appeared in journals such as Digital Journalism, Journalism Studies, Information, Communication & Society, and The International Journal of Press/Politics. Her work received several (inter)national prizes, such as the Baschwitz Young Scholar Award and a Top Student Paper Award in the Political Communication Division of the International Communication Association.
