RF (Richard) Pompoes MSc

PhD researcher, Promovendus

My research revolves around unpacking the politics, practices and knowledges of communities living with and governing waters and climate adaptation. I have an interdisciplinary background - a MSc in Sustainable Development, with a specializiation in International Development from Utrecht University (cum laude). I previously worked as a research assistant, project coordinator and guest lecturer at UU.

Conceptually, I take inspiration from Actor-Network Theory and feminist scholarship to study knowledge politics, the performativity of methods and to reflect on the philosophy of science. Empirically, I study actors at various levels of governance, and focus on (urban) deltas. I have previously conducted research in the Mekong and Kaveri delta.

My PhD project is part of the RED&BLUE research agenda, studying long-term governance of climate adaptation in urban deltas.
