Mr. Pinda Polius is an epidemiologist working with the Entomology Research group within the Environmental Health and Ecological Sciences Department at Ifakara Health Institute (IHI). He has over six years of experience in public health and research originally trained as a biologist at the University of Dodoma (UDOM) and later graduated as an epidemiologist at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. Being part of IHI has presented him with a conducive environment for career advancements such as publications in high-impact journals, MSc in Epidemiology, and a 2023 W Harding Le Riche Medal in Epidemiologyaward winner (South Africa). Currently, he is a Ph.D. student at Wageningen University, Netherlands investigating the interlink between climate variabilities and vector-borne disease risks and how this might inform the current and future perspective of vector-borne disease control in Tanzania.
