I have a special interest in marine benthic ecology, coastal ecosystem functioning and conservation biology. My major efforts in these fields are bivalve-sediment interactions, sediment biogeochemistry, symbiotic interactions, predator-prey interactions, marine invertebrate biology (nutrition, growth, reproduction), seagrass biology, food-web studies, and foraging ecology. I work mainly in (tropical) soft-sediment systems, including lagoons, intertidal mudflats, saltpans, seagrass beds and mangrove forests.
