Magdalena Smigaj is a postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing. Her research interests lie in the application of remote sensing techniques to environmental monitoring with main focus on UAV multi-modal remote sensing and monitoring vegetation condition in forested and agricultural environments. She is also actively taking part in interdisciplinary research addressing sustainable development goals through application of satellite-based monitoring approaches for tracking river sand mining activity (Vietnam and South Africa) and for improving understanding of water resource availability to reduce food insecurity (South Africa and Ethiopia).
