IMM (Inez) Dekker MSc BSc

Inez Dekker is a PhD candidate at the Knowledge, Technology and Innovation Group from Wageningen University. They hold a BSc and MSc in International Development Studies (Wageningen University). Their PhD research is associated with the CropMix project, which is funded by the NWO (Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research), and it is aimed to study and support the transition towards ecology based mixed cropping systems in The Netherlands. There, they examine multispecies interactions and learning in agricultural systems sustainability transitions. By collaborating with arable farmers, other researchers, agribusinesses, governments and NGOs, the different ways in which multiple species, including humans, interact are recognized and further activated toward, what Inez calls, a “good life”.

Inez’ interest lies in posthumanism, sustainability transitions, farming systems, critical development studies and rural mindsets. They believe in the value of transdisciplinary and trans-local approaches; Therefore, in addition to their PhD, Inez is an active member of the international artist initiative and multivocal network the ‘Rural School of Economics’. Working alongside artists Wapke Feenstra and Kathrin Böhm, their role is in the project ‘Cow and Landscape’ through engaging in knowledge exchange, cultural co-production and everyday economies of the changing ‘Dutch’ cow and landscape.
