GF (Federico) Padilla Gonzalez

Researcher

At Wageningen Food Safety Research, Federico’s role involves the application of analytical chemistry and computational metabolomics skills to study the contamination and adulteration of food products. Federico completed his master's degree and PhD in plant metabolomics at the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil), followed by a visiting research position at the University of Hohenheim (Stuttgart, Germany), where he explored the correlation between plant metabolomics, gene expression and the environment. Prior to joining WUR, Federico worked for four years at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London, as a Research Fellow (and later as Principal Scientist) on botanical authentication and the discovery of new bioactive molecules. He has over ten years of experience in LC-MS and untargeted metabolomics studies, with a long-standing interest in applying such approaches to solving global problems in the agri-food industry for the wellbeing of society.
