Docent

Eirini Fasia is a lecturer at the Law Group of Wageningen University & Research. Currently, a DPhil Candidate at the University of Oxford (Onasis scholar), she has completed her MPhil (research degree) and MJur at the same institution. She is also a graduate of Athens Law School (LLM) and Democritus University of Thrace (LLB).

Eirini’s fields of interest include marine environmental protection and conservation, biodiversity, and more broadly environmental law and the international law of the sea.

Eirini has previously taught at the Law Faculty and the Department of Continuing Education of the University of Oxford and at various Oxford colleges. She has teaching experience in various fields including general public international law, law of the sea, environmental law, and human rights. During her time at Oxford, Eirini worked as a researcher at the Oxford Martin Programme on Sustainable Oceans. In 2022-2023, Eirini served as a judicial Fellow at the International Court of Justice in the Hague.

Eirini has authored a chapter in the Oxford University Press’s Commentary on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and has published in peer-reviewed journals and blogs, such as the Law and Practice of International Courts and Tribunals and the Verfassungsblog.
