The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014 again places Wageningen UR in the top-100 of best universities in the world. It takes place 73 in the prestigious ranking, which was published on 1 October 2014.

When Wageningen UR entered the top-100 in 2011, it came as quite a surprise that a university that is specialised in food, health and environment had conquered such a prominent place on a list with universities with a much broader orientation. Since then Wageningen UR has stayed in the top-100.

18th position in Life Sciences ranking

Beside the overall ranking, Times Higher Education also publishes rankings per subject. On the world university ranking in the field of Life Sciences Wageningen UR takes the 18th position.

Dutch universities do well

The American ranking is dominated by American universities, followed by British ones. Germany takes the third place and The Netherlands are fourth. The chairman of the VSNU Association of Universities in The Netherlands, Karl Dittrich, reacts: "Thirteen Dutch universities are in the global top-300. There are over 30,000 universities, so that means that all our universities are among the best 1% in the world. I am proud of that."

Good scores in other rankings, too

Wageningen UR is considered a leading university in its domain. It is number 1 in the world in agricultural research according to the National Taiwan University Ranking and it is ranked 2nd in the world by QS World University Rankings in the category Agriculture & Forestry. Moreover, QS also places Wageningen UR in the worldwide top-10 in the category Environmental Sciences.
