The importance of behavioural science in personalised food
Personalised dietary advice can be generated when information about health and eating habits is known. But a successful advice also depends on good information, communication and a lasting change in behavior.
Knowledge about the behavior of consumers therefore also plays an important role in applying personal dietary advice. Wageningen University & Research conducts research into this, also in collaboration with TNO.
In particular, the following elements are looked at from the perspective of behavioral science in relation to Personalised Nutrition & Health (PNH):
PNH as a service with added value
What factors are important for consumers in their decision to use personalized dietary advice? What should such a service look like, are consumers prepared to pay for it and who should start offering these advices?
Base PNH on personal profile
What personal characteristics should ideally be considered in a personalized advice? How can these personal characteristics be included in an advice?
Successfully implement PNH
The way in which personalized advice is communicated and presented plays an important role in the motivation of consumers to get started with this advice and to keep it up. Which form of presentation of personalized advice is preferred? And how can a long-lasting behavior change be achieved?
