This opportunity opened doors for him, as he excelled during his internship and was offered a permanent position within the company. His thesis focused on modeling and predicting donations from food banks using MATLAB. Although it was a proof-of-concept project with simulated data, it provided Sem with valuable experience in working with real-world scenarios.

Ensuring flexibility and maintaining quality standards while managing multiple suppliers can be demanding. Sem highlights the need for backup options and the ability to adapt to changes in the supply chain. “There is a trend of shortening supply chains, moving towards localized sourcing to mitigate risks associated with global disruptions.”

Advice to Aspiring Professionals:

“I would advice aspiring professionals in the food quality management field not to plan too far ahead. Instead, remain open to unforeseen opportunities that may arise along their journey.” While it is essential to have goals and aspirations, Sem believes that being flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances is equally crucial. By staying receptive to new experiences and being proactive in seizing opportunities, aspiring professionals can navigate their career.
