Remote sensing, deforestation science and interfaces with policy

These infrastructures, which rely heavily on remote sensing technology, compose a network of scientific projects which have helped to bring the Amazon to the centre of debates around land-use, climate change and the role of expertise in policy in Brazil. Through the example of controversies around deforestation, I want to reflect on how the always re-emerging and disputed problem of the Amazon helps us think through science-policy interfaces as well as current Brazilian politics.
