Researcher Sensing and Robotics

Jos Balendonck (MsC.) completed training as engineer electro-technology in 1983 at the Technical University of Eindhoven in the department of medical electronics. He worked at the Radboud hospital in Nijmegen on the development of medical equipment for patient care and research. Since 1987 he works at Wageningen University and Research Centre at different institutes in different positions. Initially as developer of electronics instrumentation for application in all agricultural sectors (open field, protected crops and animal husbandry) within Technical and Physical Engineering Service. Next as researcher at IMAG (1996-2003), as senior researcher at Agrotechnology and Food Sciences Group (2003-2005) and since then at Plant Sciences Group, within the scientific research team Greenhouse Technology within WUR.

Jos Balendonck is expert on sensors, measuring and control engineering (e.g. wireless sensors and crop monitoring) and robotics for horticulture in the area of crop, water, climate and energy, conducting research in both national and international projects.
