Ingrid de Jong is currently working as senior scientific researcher/project leader at the Animal Health and Welfare Department of Wageningen Livestock Research, Wageningen University and Research. Ingrid de Jong graduated at Wageningen University with specialisation in ethology, animal physiology and immunology. She obtained her PhD degree in 2000 at Groningen University, Department of Animal Physiology, on the development of chronic stress indicators in pigs. After her PhD she obtained a position as postdoctoral researcher at the Animal Sciences Group, followed by a position as scientific researcher and senior scientific researcher. Her research interests focus on poultry welfare, with the majority of current projects related to broiler and broiler breeder welfare and having a multidisciplinary approach – combining ethology and physiology with immunology, nutrition and system design. These include large multi-stakeholder projects financed by the poultry industry, government and/or EU. She is and has been involved in the supervision of PhD students.
