New book on canopy photosynthesis
Recently the book ‘Canopy Photosynthesis: From Basics to Application’ came out in the Springer series ‘Advances in Photosynthesis and Research’. The book was co-edited by Niels Anten from CSA while Jochem Evers and Lammert Bastiaans of CSA contributed chapters.
The plant canopy is the ecosystem-level unit of photosynthesis that assimilates CO2 and exchanges other gasses and energy with the atmosphere. Canopy photosynthesis is therefore the key process defining production of crop- and natural plant systems, and modifies global climate through CO2 uptake and by altering latent and sensible heat fluxes. The book gives a comprehensive analysis of plant canopy physiology, ecology and physics. It is aimed at graduate students as well as experiences scientists in plant ecology, biogeosciences, crop science and climatology interested in measuring and/or modelling vegetation functioning.
