Bioinformatics Group

Research at the Bioinformatics Group focuses on the analysis of genomes. The main techniques used hereby are data integration and data mining, or in plain text: "how do we make the huge amounts of biomolecular data accessible, and can we generate new knowledge from these data".

Our courses

The Bioinformatics Group offers several courses and thesis projects.

Prof. Dr. Jack Leunissen

On May 14, 2012, Jack Leunissen, Professor of Bioinformatics of Wageningen University, our group leader, passed away after a long illness. As a pioneer in bioinformatics he has made a great contribution to the development of the bioinformatics discipline. His enthusiasm and views have inspired generations of young researchers and students in the world. Jack remained involved with his work and his people until the very end. His passion and knowledge of bioinformatics will stay an inspiration to us all. We wish Jack's family, friends and colleagues strength to cope with this loss.
