A report in Science of 05 February, on the role of forest management in carbon storage in European forests, raised considerable discussion among scientists, including FEM profs. Frits Mohren and Gert-Jan Nabuurs together with colleagues from the European Forest Institute.

They submitted an e-letter "Europe’s forests mitigated climate warming since the 1950’s and could continue to do so in the future!".
See http://science.sciencemag.org/content/351/6273/597.e-letters for the full text of the e-letters that were submitted, including a reply from Naudts et al, the authors of the original report.

Several ongoing projects, amongst them the FEM-coordinated EU-FORMIT project are further investigating this matter, amongst others relevant for the further implementation of the agreements made at the COP21 Climate Conference last year in Paris.
