Three APS prize winners at WIAS Science Day 2016

Imke de Boer and Corina van Middelaar received the Education prize for the best WIAS PhD course of the past year, and Hannah van Zanten received the overall Best Presentation prize.

Hannah van Zanten presented her research on The role of livestock in a sustainable diet: a land-use perspective in an excellent presentation. She was the best of the three presenters in her session Environment & Sustainability, and also the best of all six sessions. Hannah will submit her PhD thesis soon and hopes to defend her thesis in June 2016.

Imke de Boer and Corina van Middelaar received the Education award for organising the highly valued PhD course on Environmental Impact Assessment of Livestock Systems, 9-13 February 2015. The course was attended by 36 international students. This course will be organised again in February 2017. Detailed information will become available in March.

The theme of the WIAS Science day on February 4 was "Nature & Technology". This annual day is ment as a showcase of ongoing WIAS PhD research. 18 PhD students presented their research in an oral presentation, of which 4 of the Animal Production Systems Group, and 21 Scientific posters were presented, of which 5 of APS PhD students.
